I came home to find babies in my tank. I have idea what species they are. I have Jack Demseys, Texas Cichlids, Convicts, and Green Severums. One of the Texas Cichlids is ferociously protecting that corner, but so is a Convict, and they don't chase each other away. Any ideas?

Sounds like your Convict and Texas paired up. It happens.

Well, I don't know who the momma is, but the Texas Cichlid is four times a big as the Convict. Are they mouth brooders though? The Convict looked like it was eating the babies?

no there not mouthbrooders and its very common for them to hybridize...

Sometimes they will eat the babies and other times they with suck in a baby that strays too far and then spit it back into the nest with the others.
