I came in today to find my blue crawfish "Neptune" laying on his back. Needless to say I freaked and began an emergency water change when my wife said he had two shells. As I watched he popped his carapace up and popped completely out of his shell in one fiesty go. It's the second time he has molted since we got him but the first time I've seen it happen. He is cowering in his cave now.

Neat! i have yet to seen mine actually molt, but i've seen the shed exoskeleton afterwards.

nice! did you keep the exo in the tank?

I loved my Blue guy but he ripped up all of my plants! i do miss him though!

Yeah I had just given him some feeder fish the other day and noticed part of one of them stuck in the intake that he had missed so my first thought when I saw him being lethargic on his back was ammonia poisoning. Regardless the water change was coming, but he seemed to like the fresh water.

It is funny watching him on his "new legs" He was stumbling around like a baby taking his first steps. Eventually he managed to backwards thrust himself into his cave with his tail.
