I don't know what this is, but it looks really cool, so I hope it's nothing I have to get rid of. This particular piece of rock had what looked like a thin layer of purple cement draped on part of it, and the cement had tubes sticking out. As of this morning, I thought it was something that was just dead, but today it looks like little hands sticking out of the tubes with a neon green center. Anyone familiar with this? I'll see if I can get a picture posted.

sounds like a sea mat to me, i cant think of the name but there is a sea mat with a purple encrusting base...... maybe someone else will chime in as to the name... but they are a good thing

Sounds like coralline algae with some tube worms/feather dusters growing out of the rock. Really need pics to give a good ID though. But if it is what I said, yes, good to have.
