:hypnotized: SO I have had this ongoing headache for about 4 days now. My meds for it aren't doing anything, I have midrin and florcet, and its driving me crazy! It gets really bad when I am in the car. My doc is a pill pusher, they missed it when I had meningitis (Yeah, tell me about it!) So anyone on here have any technique that work for killing your head ache, legal ones?

I feel for you , caffeine always helps me but I also take doc. prescribed meds for headaches also.

If it won't interfere with the meds you are currently on try a combination of ibuprofen and caffeine ( sometimes they combine these in a powder like BC or Goodies or in a pill form many brands usually called "fast acting" Excedrin migraine comes to mind)

Don't bother with acetaminophen it won't touch a serious headache, at least it doesn't mine.

Yeah, I drink coffee, and when it gets really bad, (I get dizzy and vision get blurry, and nauseous) I grab a monster. Ill have to try that powder, never had that before, Thank you :)

I am not reccomending this, because I don't know what adverse reactions the mix might cause. My wife takes a 50/50 mix of ibuprofen and aceteminophen when she has a headache because it is the only thing that works for her. So far, she has had no known adverse reaction, and she has been doing this for at least 10 years.

humm, I have both on hand, hebily..... NA i dont really fear mixing meds, been doing it alot lately, thanks to my crappy doc....

I dont want to go to the docs, mine suck really bad. I went into the ER, had meningitis, and they missed it! Rash, fever super headache, and all the other symptoms. I went home and was in bed for a week with the worst headache and could not move without crying from the pain. My friend came down with the same illness 2 weeks later, went to a different doc, and bam it was meningitis!

i always take a proper dose of aspirin with a can of your favorite caffeinated beverage. that always does the trick for me.
Or, if you don't want to drink the sugar they sell it in pill form: caffeine + aspirin = Midol

good luck. sometimes you just need to lay in bed in complete darkness and simply sleep it away.

also, drink a LOT of water.

I get migraines every once in a while, and what I do is take 2 or 3 pills of ibuprofen then sleep for like 6 hours. When I would wake up, I would take another then sleep.

While on the meds, you should also drink lots of fluids. Tea, water, as long as it isn't soda.

^^ i agree, keep drinking water, it seems to help me when ever i have a headache.

My sister in law is a doctor, and she actually recommends the ibuprofen/aceteminifen 50/50 combo as they work on your pain in two different ways. About a year ago, I found I was waking up in the morning with a lot of headaches, not everyday, but fairly frequently. Turns out, I had been grinding/clenching my teeth(and didn't even know it), and got a night guard thing from the dentist. It really helped a lot, and I really notice it if I forget to wear it at night the next morning. I still get the occasional dehydration/lack of sleep headaches, for which the cure is good old hydration + a nap. Though I know it's easier said than done, but perhaps you might also want to look into finding a new health care provider. Frequent headaches can also be a sypmtom of many other serious illnesses.

I'm so sorry! Headaches suck.
Is it a migraine? If so, then regular painkillers may or may not help. I know you don't have these meds right now, but just fyi, I got a prescription for zomig, and it gets rid of a migraine in under 30 minutes. I've also used maxalt in the past, but for me zomig works the best.
I also burn lavender or peppermint essential oil, and that sometimes helps.
And, this technique may seem a little loopy at first, but I've had success using EFT methods on migraines. This is where you tap repetitively on the pressure points in your upper body.
You can see this girl demonstrate it on youtube:

I don't bother with saying all the affirmations out loud like she does, but just tapping on your pressure points is supposedly like doing acupuncture, without the needles. Usually, for me, it either decreases the pain or sometimes even gets rid of the headache altogether.
