I have, actually. In fact I opened a Paypal dispute, then the person contacted to me and said they were going to ship so I closed the dispute (stupid, stupid) and they still haven't shipped. :( Maybe they'll see this and decide to, hm?

This was the first time I tried to buy from this person,and they are fairly new to the forum. I have bought quite a bit of stuff here with no problems.Hopefully I can get it resolved.

Also, and I hope the new members do not take offense to this, but if I see that a member is selling and they have less than a 100 or so post counts and those posts consist mostly of sale threads I move on.

We have a feedback rating system for a reason so I would advise using it to your advantage as a buyer...I trust most AC members but just because they are here does not mean they are not out to scam you.

I haven't had any bad luck considering my poor memory. Everyone is pretty good about keeping me informed. I mostly buy from the same people repeatedly.

I generally use the post count qualifier. If someone is scamming, they are going to keep doing it. Then they get banned from the site. Someone that's been around forever isn't going to scam, cause they don't want to get kicked.

I also keep tabs on the feedback. If there is any neutral or negative, it's worth investigating.

I have bought a lot of stuff off AC with great success the one and only time I felt " jipped" believe it or not was a ROAK. I think this particular person got several folks and was banned... they advertised a ROAK just pay for shipping( 7$) sounds perfectly normal and fair but what you got was a envelope full of brown mush.

Not sure where the breakdown occurred but neadless to say I felt I didn't even get my shippings worth!! Every other time I have been very satisfied with my purchases and I continue to purchase and trade with members here - got some pkgs. coming this week as a matter of fact!!

That being said I am sure there are folks that are just looking to take advantage everywhere unfortunately so I can understand folks ( me too!) being cautious.

Well! Apparently at least one other person has had a problem with the person I bougt from, according to the messages on their profile. And this wasn't a new member with low post count, either. I wasn't out too much money, luckily, but it's still annoying. Gave 'em one last chanceand they're getting bad feedback.

Does someone get banned if they have a certain amount of bad feedback?

Oh I would never stp buying from here. I've gotten quite a lot- fish, plants, inverts, and had an overwhelmingly positive experience! It sucks that some people have to ruin it.

Thinking back, I have had that happen, once, by someone who I would not have expected any problems with. It didn't take an overwhelming amount of work on my part to get a refund from them, however. They said the problem was with the post office. As far as I could figure out, that could be true, or it could not be, but they did refund me as soon as I asked. It was frustrating, however, because they were very anti-responsive (yes, I mean that - not unresponsive, not nonresponsive... they were exactly the opposite of responsive) to all my inquiries. It took like two weeks to get told that they hadn't shipped yet. Then after they gave me a tracking number that the post office said wasn't any good, they said they would figure out what happened and get back to me the next day... it took like two weeks to get a response again... they eventually said that the post office seemed to have lost it, and asked if I wanted them to reship. I told them I'd rather just have a refund, and they told me they had already refunded me. I checked, and they had.

I had a trade where I shipped the person the plants and never got their package.. after a few weeks of pms to the other person they finally got around to send me a package.. 2 bad it did not contain anything we agreed on, instead it had a baggie of nasty brown water that stunk soo bad that I think i smelled the package before it arrived to my home. Basically the bag contained some what used to be snails.. Later after another month or so i just told the person to forget about the plants and just pay for the shipping of the plants i sent to her..

Make sure when you do trades that the both of you send each other photos of what you are sending. This shows each person that you actually have the plants/parts and are not jerking around..

I am not sure what it takes for banning but the person that jipped me got banned. I am not sure if it was related to that or not but I know I was not the only AC member he got cause when the feedback started coming in well...this guy got flamed! I never did get my money back though... still makes me a little mad.

IMO I find pestering sellers until they reply to me works best, however I have only bought on here a few times.
IMO if they do not reply within a weekish, I will set up a paypal dispute. and if the contact still remains to be shoddy, no tracking number etc, I will not disreguard the dispute until the item gets here.
I just got ripped off on another site fro a really cheap 200 w heater... never showed, no tracking number, nada. Ive been an awesome buyer on this site, with more than 70 fb... just means you gotta read alot of FB. I always read a sellers fb no matter if its 100% or not.

Sometimes I am a bit slow at getting things out as I was down to one car and wife needed it for work. Of course being disabled doesn't help matters any but I try to stay in contact with buyers so they know what is going on. I feel failure to keep a buyer informed hurts everyone and tarnishes a reputation. Sometimes it can't be helped and being understanding helps over-all. As an occasional seller, I try to give a buyer more for their money when possible.

I think if a seller needs to be "pestered" in order for them to send out their goods, then a bashing and/or banning is perfectly acceptable.

$8 shipping for fish is Priority Mail - 2-3 days.

One thing you have to remember is that a members post count does not change with posts in the classifieds forums...So, going by post count is not always a good way to judge how good a member is...A member could have 5 sales threads and sold a lot of goods, all with positive feedback, yet his / her post count can still be zero if they are only on AC to use the classifieds forum...

Just something too keep in mind there..
