One of my breeding tank is really ridden with algae partially due to the fact that I overfeed that tank, and also have long light period to promote faster java moss growth. Since this is a platy breeder tank, java moss occupies over half of the tank, where really small (under 2 weeks old) fries live.

Will these fries survive if I put one 2 inch bristlenose in this tank? I have 4 of them in my community tank, and they don't seem to like to go into java moss to hunt things down. Most of the fries in this tank survives despite there are 5 adult platies, so are pl*cos better hunters than them? (I don't think so...)

I dont' think that the bristlenose will be able to catch and eat healthy platie fry. I think they would be more of a concern for egg laying fish.

I have a pleco in my planted tank and i had platies.I still had a few babies survive even with angels, tetras and loaches in the tank.

I'm pretty sure the BN pleco won't be a problem. But if you add him and then notice him eatign fry then take him out.

I agree--it's doubtful the BN will cause a problem. I have several of them in my planted tank, and my kuhli's successfully reproduce--and they are egg layers. A livebearer should have no problem.

Great! I'll go ahead and move one of them into the heaven of algae... :D
