I added half a dozen otos last Saturday and they have not stopped chowing on the algae. These fish are really cool.

They do have a strange habit though. As they are going about their business, one will suddenly swim straight up at full speed. I think it is actually hitting the glass cover and then it comes splashing back in with a large bubble of air that follows it for the first six inches back down. Then it goes right back to work.

Very amusing, but very baffling.

very normal mine do this sometimes!!! my only concern woul be that if they do this a lot there might be a lack of oxygen in the tank because when they do this they grab agulp of air n come back down - most catfish do this including plecos n cories!!! you might wanna add an airstone if they start doing it tons :D

yep mine do it every now and again. id say it was just a catfish thing. if they do it constantly do as suggested and get some more oxygen going in there.
