View Full Version : Leaking Tank?

I am not sure but I might have a leaking tank... the water level dropped about 1/2 inch in the last two days... but I am not sure how much evaporates... I also just made a posting in another part of this forum about elodea plants... asking if they "use" up water, therefore lowering water levels...

The weird thing is that the spot (puddle!) of water growing on my carpet has no connection to the tank.. in other words.. I can't find a path of wet carpet that leads from the tank... Dropping water levels make me want to think that its a leaking tank... but I cant see how it would leak and show up a foot away in the carpet???

Any comments would be great...

Ensure that you don't have any airline tubing creating the problem.

Is the carpet one piece? If the stand is sitting on a seam and water leaks into the carpet below the stand, it would follow the seam (path of least resistance) and could pop up in a place where the seem is tighter together.
The above statement has no experience or professional backing and was a total grasp in the dark. ;)

Any other pets besides fish? Cats, dogs, children? Anyone in the household consume too much alcohol lately?
Again, just grasping in the dark! :)
