what kind of filter would you use on a 135 gal tank. i'm planning on add a silver arowana, ditstichudus sexfaciatus(if i can find some), 2 Leporinus, 10-12 clown loach - maybe more. please keep in mind the fishes i plan on getting will be in the 2 to 4 inch. i want to get filters that will be enough when they are full grown.
How much money are you willing to spend? :D That makes a big difference on recommendations.

I have two Penguin 330s (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=3631&Ne=40000&R=7259&N=2004+22769) on my 120 and they work great. Cheap, easy to maintain, and quite flexible.

i would like to spend about $100 - $150 range. i like some thing like a canister filter. so cleaning it, would be easy.
You can get a couple of Emperor 400 filters from www.bigalsonline.com for $40 each (look under "Power Filters"). I have one of those, and 2 magnum350's ("Canister Filters") on my 110. The magnum's are around $90 each at BigAl's. The Magnums are on the lower end of the price range, but they work fine to me. Check out the filter section at BigAl's and you can get a good idea of what things cost. There are better filters out there of course.......but if you are on a budget such as I, the E400's and Magnum's are hard to beat.

On my 125g I have a Ocean Clear 340 sponged up, behind that I have a Fishmate 3000 pond canister filled with bio pins and a mag drive 1800 in line as my pump. Pretty awesome.

hi......
I gotta recommend AquaClear 500s. IMO, the best bang for the buck. They clean easy and are cheap thru BigAls on line. Get two of them and a canister and your 135 is all set........Gregg

I agree with gregga. AquaClear 500 is the way to go. I would get 2 of them, plus a cannister filter as your primary biological filtration.

I would go with 2 AC 500s and a Rena filstar xP3. slightly over 10x turnover rate which will be needed for those fish.
