I wanted to place here a link to a small app I created (mac users only, sorry guys) called ChatSifter. ChatSifter will use a chat log (copied and pasted from the flashchat using the save button) to create a text file on your desktop which contains all PVT messages between you and another chatter.
Because I cant find a free file hosting site that I trust nor can I set up my free web storage with my ISP (since I refuse to use their email service) You will have to PM me for the workflow or application. I'll reply, don't worry. :)
Known issues:
- mentioning a persons name in a separate PVT message will allow that through the sifter. This is because AND/OR conditions can't be used in Automator. When I find a way around this, it will go into the next version.
- Chat sifter currently filters by allowing lines with "->" and a users name through. In later versions I would like it to search by [usernameA and usernameA] to fix the above mentioned problem.
Future improvements:
- I would like list to appear to allow you to select the name of a chatter rather than type them in. This will get around case sensitivity issues and prevent typos from causing problems.
- Possibly set it up as a script that can be run while the chat log page is open, eliminating the clipboard operations entirely.
Other notes:
- Feel free to modify this any way you like. Please link the new work to this forum page and do not claim credit for anyone else's work.
- If you create a PC version of ChatSifter, please keep its discussion on a another thread, but feel free to link to it from here.
- If I am stepping on a moderators toes here, please know that's not my intent.
