I know rummies & cardinals have been widely suggested.
but can someone help with making a list of all fish including plecos/cats/otos, etc. for both compatibility & temperature tolerance?
along with the pros & cons of the togetherness with that fish.
ex. I have kept angels in the past with discus, but this go around I couldn't because my angels were too fast too aggressive during feeding time & grew so much faster.
thx all.

I almost always have kept a betta... Many different dwarf plecos.. Gold severums.. Rams.. Breeding squads of guppies.. Hatchets--- the list goes on, size/volume, along w/dutiful water maintenence and appropriate equip. Depicts sucess (don't overkill w/lighting)

Blue Rams(Ramirezi)
AltumAngels( other wilds work well too)
i have BN's with them
you have to be careful with some oto's as some they like to suck on the slime of discus.
Some Corydora are tolerant of the temps.

:iagree:
Sterbais seem to be the cory of choice when it comes to discus tank because they can handle the higher temps.

I am about to try keeping discus for the first time so this has been an interesting read :o).
I have been told that clown loach are good and also tetras. I was also told no to angel fish as they can be too agressive ... would really like to keep them too ... does anyone have any further views on that? I was surprised to read above that Sevrum are OK as the breeding pair I had years ago bullied everything ... mind you I only had a 3 ft aquarium then!

I have kept wild P.Scalare with Domestic discus for years.
there are a few things tho. QT all the inhabitants. treat wild Angels and Domestic Angels for internal parasites.
many would not suggest this but in recent years there has been an outbreak of two peticularly nasty internal parasites. Camillanus- parasitic round worm. and capillaria a tiny round worm (parasitic) these two are known to have resistance to most normal meds used for treating internal parasites.
treatment for these may include Levamisole hcl or Flubendazole/fendbendazole.
