The AGA International Aquascaping Contest (http://showcase.aquatic-gardeners.org/) has even more planted tanks. A lot of the same tanks that were enterd into the Aquabotanic contest are also in the AGA.

Thanks for pointing these out to us Zin.
Am I the only one? The more I look at these contest tanks, the less I want a tank that looks like one. I am amazed at the skill and effort that goes into growing the plants as beautifully as these folks manage to do, but I would hate to have to look at some of the garish displays the judges seem to prefer. For example, the first place tank is an amazing aquatic plant growing achievement that manages to give me the same headache I get from watching Super Bowl halftime shows - I half expect some Pepsi commercial to pop up anytime. It is as garish and overdone as can be.
I like red plants. I like contrast. But proportion and balnce in their use please! Plus, and this is just my taste, but the Dutch look sort of gets on my nerves too. I like a becalming natural look and the formality of the Dutch look stiffens up what I think should be a flowing and fluid look.
