I just set up a new 29 gal freshwater tank. No fish yet as I wanted to add the plants first.
Today, I bought the plants. Washed them with mildly hot water. Then, rinsed them again in room temp water.
Tonight, I noticed a couple of pond snails that survived the heat. Oh well, I picked them off by hand.
Then, I noticed that my new banana plant seemed to be moving. On closer inspection it had small worms on it. I pulled the three I found off and replanted the banana.
About the worms. They were a cloudy pink in color, looked similar to tubiflex (I think. I've only had the freeze-dried variety.), and they appeared to have a head on either end. When I held one, it couldn't make up its mind which direction was foward.
I'm hoping they are tubiflex and I should have just let the 3 Spot Gorami, that will soon be added to the tank, have them for dinner (next week after I break out the Bio-Spira).
But I wasn't sure and feared they may be Camallanus. I read about these buggers in another post and didn't want to add fish if this is the problem.
Thank you.
