You could but once they grow up they'll appreciate other foods like pinky mice, guppy feeders, ect. Crickets don't have a lot of nutritional value, they're messy and they stink up really bad. If you want to feed insects take a look at waxworms, mealworms...

You'll find out that substituting other other food items is a good idea once you watch your frog scarf down 50 crickets in one sitting.

Crickets are just fine if you gut load and hydrate them first. Mealworms are awful. I haven't used them for feeders in 15+ years. Their nutritional value stinks compared to most other live food choices out there (excluding wax worms which are extremely high in fat) and their hard exoskeletons are hard on some herp's digestive systems.

But I do agree, crickets stink. That's why I breed dubia roaches. ;)

I think earthworms are the best live food.
my old frog eats pretty much only earthworms and the odd snail.
I'v had her since 1989 so they must be good:idea:

Earthworms can bee a good food source too if you know they're safe and pesticide free.

20 years, that's pretty impressive. What species of frog is it?

thats a good point, and even more important with snails. I have an organic veggie garden and they come from that.

shes a golden bell -Litoria aurea I had her mate 18 years before he croaked. I got both as adults so Im not sure how old they really were/are
