i recently started a 29g fowlr stoked with two common clowns, i recently got an aquaclear power head and i have tried like crazy toreduce the ammount of bubbles it spewsout. so my question is what power heads are good in the 20-40 dollor price range

That powerhead shouldnt be producing bubbles on its own. Its either too close to the top of the water, try lowering it a little, or you're sucking up air bubbles from somewhere else and its chopping them up into smaller finer bubbles. Or...you dont have the air hose and venturi hooked up to it do you? That would obviously be adding bubbles too. But, like i said...it shouldnt be producing air bubbles on its own, there is an under lying cause. Figure out what that is, and it should work fine for you!

I have my aquaclear power head hanging on the back, it does not have the venturi valve on it and still periodically it sends a puff of bubbles into the tank. The output is a good 4-5" below the water line. I can't figure out why it does this, but it is nice to know it's not just mine. I bought this one about a month ago.

i have the venuri closed and like nikki its still shooting out bubbles i guess i try removing the air line and see what happens

well i removed the venturi air line and all is well i have it on the righ side of the tank about 4" down the hob filter is on the left side is this a good position for it? also do i need to add annother ph or is the one enoug?

I figured out why I was getting that puff of air with the help of the guy at my LFS. Apparently, a vortex of sorts is forming in the area where the intake for this power head is. Periodically, it sucks in the air bubble and spits it back out into a million tiny ones. Why I could not have figured that out on my own, I'll never know. Anyway, if you were still seeing the air bubbles like I am, I thought this might help you too.
