im not sure how most of you guys fill your tank but after talking with my fish guy i came up with a pretty good idea. have a 44g rubbermaid trash can in which i mix my water i bought a submersable pump, and with some fittings from the local hardawre store including a ball valve to control the flow and a quick connet so i can leave the filler line in the tank, if you guys want pics let me know and ill post em up

I do something similar. I have a 30 gallon storage tub and enough house to reach all over the house. I plop the tub in front of the tank, fill it with the hose, treat it and let it set for 10-20 minutes, drop my pump in with a line going to the tank and plug it in. No more buckets!

I think you'll find most people here fill their tanks up straight from the tap using a python.

I drop a Maxi-Jet 900 with tubing on the output into my wheeled Brute can that I mix sw in and use that to put water back into our tank. I have a plastic hanger that holds the tubing in place (like an external hang-on return jet). It doesn't fill all that fast, but then again, I don't want it to fill all that fast.

yea that sounds exactly like my set up i just havent secured the tubing on the tank yet i got my pump from harbour freight its 1400gph and 23gpm so it fills real quick thats why i put the ball valve on there

Our water has soooo much chlorine, that it burns your eyes if you are standing over the sink doing dishes. I don't think that dosing the tank with Prime and then filling straight from the tap would save my fish from chorine burns. The reason I use a tub is so that I can let the water set for some time before adding it to the tank. Same with mixing salt for my BW tank - I can mix the water and aerate for 24 hours, and then just pump it right in.
