My girlfriend convinced her mother to let her get a new dog from the human society. Good thing her dad doesn't know (he's out to sea haha). Pleasant surprise for when he gets back. I'm saying that I had no part in it though.
Anyways.
I don't really know what breed he is? (who knows, we might have some dog experts here :] )
We were thinking a porgi (pug x corgi), and we asked the vet, she half-way agreed to what we thought.
His name's Lewey.

I would almost say like a corgi/beagle/pug mix. He is a cute little thing no matter what he is :) He looks very happy in his new home!

I agree with the corgie/pug mix but what ever he is he is a beautiful dog.

So cute! Reminds me of a puggle in a way.

Mmm... I would guess pug, beagle and some kind of spaniel. It looks like his paws may be webbed in some of those photos. Then again, that tail suggest an arctic breed an artic breed (husky, for example). Like water dogs, arctic dogs were also bred to have webbing between the toes.
He is cutie.

Beautiful dog!! Many props to your girlfriend and her mom for rescuing a dog! She's a hero just like her dad (assuming that hes in the Navy). :)

I think it may be a little puggle. The feet look like small hound feet (daschund or beagle.) Cute as a button though, and yay, girlfriend for saving a life!!

I am thinking he has some Beagle in him. Legs are too long for Corgi and/or Pug. Very cute tho - Love the "Frog Dog" pose. (laying with legs out behind him) ;)

Very cute dog. I am guessing pug and beagle/dachsund cross.

Thanks for the compliments. He was second choice, as the first didn't do well with other dogs. I'm so glad we got him. He's mellow and lays like that picture all the time. He's very keen on the licking as well, which is a plus in my opinion :] This is really the only dog I've liked A LOT.

I haven't checked for webbing on his feet.
My first guess was a beagle x pug, but I looked it up on google and all I got were puppies... but if they weren't pups, then Lewey is too big to be beagle x pug. Now that I think about it, he does have an arctic(ish) tail, I was thinking the pug's side of the tail just got stretched out. But he's too small to be any arctic dog.

Pugs carry their tails up like that. With any sort of hound in there, he'd get a longer tail than a pug. The short legs are basset, dachsund, corgi 'ish. One of the parents could be a beagle/basset mix or a beagle/dachsund mix. I've seen several of these two mixes. Those short legs are a pretty strong genetic trait!
How tall is he and how old (if you know). With a shelter dog, sometimes you don't know age reliably.

He's a great dog and I'm betting that he likes his new home much more than the shelter digs!

He's very short, standing, he comes up to about a footish from middle back to ground. The shelter said he's 1 1/2 years old.

13 inch beagle/pug,.. beagles have a up arched tail and with pug would curl it,.. size and stance is beagle,.. ears are beagle,.. only other way to tell is the teeth are they a scissor bite? or what? beagles and other breeds have different bites,..

We got our dog from someone in the army, after a year and a half with the dog, he got deployed and gave him back to the breeder, and then we got him :) :) :) :)
It looks like my friends Puggle! But with a little Corgie in him, and a lotta cute too!
