Im not sure from where yet, but I keep a shamwow under it to catch the water while doing w/c etc... and I cleaned ou the filter yesterday and after that, I have had to change out 3 towels and 2 shamwows full of water. I know I spilled a bit when putting the filter back together... but i see water dripping from nthe electrical cord. any ideas? ATM I cannot afford a brand new filter... rena xp3 or other... and I would want a new one, not a used one.
help?
the tank is 135 gallons, rena xp3 filter, only used for 4 months beofre I got it... and i have only had it for about 2 months.. help?

has to be a seal. take it apart check the seals make sure they are in the right place not smashed and i always take a very little bit of vaseoline and rub it all around the seals on all my canisters before i put them back together and i never have any leaks nor has it harmed my rubber seals. been doing this for years now.

I rubbed the seal with some water. I will try and get some vaseline today... It's just kinda hard to get to the seal... its so small!

I was just told that vaseline is extremely dangerous to fish... true or false? now im worried... >.<

:iagree::iagree::iagree:

Used to use it on my Salt Water canister filter no problems. You don't want to glob it on just a nice thin coat to make it shiny.

Okay. I know it is still leaking cause the shamwow is still picking up water... thank god for shamwows!

check the o rings on the hose connect valves that go into the lid, that would be the first place i would suspect a leak since you say its coming out of the power cord hole

there is a small hole in the lid between the two hose connects that drains into the lid and then can drain out the power cord hole if it over flows

also take off the lid and lay it with the power cord hole down in the sink and let it drain

I fixed it! It was the seal. Im sure of it. No new water on the shamwow. Thanks everyone!
