Florida here I come... leaving tomorrow morning.

...vacation at last- 3 days with sand sea and sun! My wife's uncle has a rental condo at Fort Walton and invited us down for an end of summer vacation for free(ish). Then it's off to Tallahassee to visit in-laws for a couple days.

Anyone know of any good things to do/see in the Fort Walton area- any recommendations?

I was there about 10 years ago but haven't been in forever. It'll be good to be back.

Yes, although that depends which beach you go to and at what time of year... :) Some beaches are better than others.

Last time I was at Ft. Walton they had just opened up their aquarium there... wasn't a huge one but I remember it had a fairly nice show- wonder if they've expanded it any.

I always tell everyone the best thing to do in hot/humid Florida is to leave :) Have a great time.

It's not going to be any hotter/humid than South Carolina gets during the summer... upper 80's/lower 90's is what the weather forecast is calling for during our trip.

... scattered thunderstoms here and there too each day- although I'm told not to worry they pass quickly. We went to Tallahassee/Tampa back early spring and got lots of rain! :(

I am sure you can expect a 5 minute downpour everyday sometime in the afternoon, just another one of Florida's lovely attributes.

I was there in april.. thunderstorms and rain (tornado warnings) but they storms are shortlived.
it was pleasant at 70-80 when back at home it was a cool 60 on a good day.
the reverse could be said when I was there in July(end) 80-90 some rain... but compared to the heat wave we had in Washington.. an unusual 100 for the week I was in Fla.
