marineland 350, not a fan of the whispers and the marineland at least has a bio-wheel so tyou wont loos any bio-filtration when you switch the cartridges. what size tank is it for?

marineland 350 unless the whisper 60 is dirt cheap they arent the best but they do a good job or the ones i used did.

i have both, and don't much care for either. cartridges are way too expensive and making my own always ends up with me having to tinker a half dozen times to get it just right. i usually end up just shoving a chunk of filter floss in each and use them as water polisher filters only, and have another larger primary filter on each tank.

I like Whispers myself, if only because they're dead silent. Like BFM, I'm not such a big fan of the Bio-bag cartridges though. If you go Whisper, buy a couple of Bio3 cartridges and cut a sponge to fit the clamshell.

I have no complaint about the Whisper filters. Having a bio-heel is over-rated as it is not a must. I have taken off my wheels and had no change in water quality. However, I have found them to help cycle a tank a tiny bit faster.

I use fiber-floss in all my HOB's. As far as polishing ability, it does so by removal of finer particles. If it removes finer particles, you can be sure it removes the larger ones just as well. I use the Poly-fil on all of my Oscar tanks as it does a very thorough job of filtration. I rate it as superior to cartridges in all types of filters.

I've always liked Marinelands filters over tetras...
