I have an OSCAR fish that keeps keeping bigger and bigger I had it since it was a baby fish but now my tank is too small for it and needs rehoming with small adoption fee. It is about hand size maybe even bigger depending on your hand. PLEASE CALL ***********

Well at least the person has recognized that the oscar isn't meant for a 10g. Unless the "adoption fee" is ridiculous, lets not be too harsh on the owner.

maybe the 'expert' at the fish store said that the fish would be perfect for that tank. and the consumer listened to the advice that was given to him/her. turned out to be bad advice, eh?

the person is doing the right thing and adopting the fish...lets not jump down his/her throat over it.

Agreed that the person is taking the initiative to rehome the fish. Also posting the phone number in a public forum isn't really the greatest idea, even if he had already posted in another forum.

What a nasty tank! Glad they are trying to rehome the poor fish! It's going to take a long acclimation process to get it used to clean water.

By the same token, people have come to my house and when they see the size of one of my Oscars and the Pleco they freak out and say they have never seen them that large and didn't know they would get so big. Further explanations usually result in a jaw-drop.

One guy told me the petstore told him the plecos stay small and will only grow to size of tank. I thought he was joking and I laughed until he insisted that is what they told him. He said he now understands why his fish died. :(

I think the brown is probably algae on the one side of the tank..

I agree the guy probably really didn't know better, but that's part of what always disturbs me - that pets are sold by people that don't know better to people that don't know better.

Wish they'd just taken the initiative to research a little bit before buying a live animal. Deplorable any way you look at it. There is no justification for such ridiculousness, especially in today's world where almost anyone has access to a wealth of info on almost any topic.
