Hello everyone, I was wondering if there any kinds of industrial silicone that is aquarium safe. I would much rather go buy that then a tiny over priced tube of silicone at the pet store:(.

Thanks!

GE Silicone I (not II), they sell them in tubes at most hardware stores.

Has anyone used that one before for projects? I have been reading a lot about it and it seems there are mixed opinions, but I am looking for personal experience with it.

I have used it to make my little caves, glued gobs of it all over the pvc to hold gravel to it.. just let it dry a good while and it's perfectly safe =) my plecos suck all over it.. no worries =)

I recently rebuilt a 225 gallon with "All Glass Aquarium silicone" for the vertical panels (more stress) and GE I silicone for the bottom panel. I haven't tested the tank yet but from what I can tell after curing and pulling off the excess residue, there is not difference I can see in curing time or toughness between the "All Glass Aquarium silicon" at $9 a 10oz tube and the GE I silicone at $3.50 per 10 oz tube.

I sealed my entire hex tank in GE silicone 1 for windows and doors around december 2007 and have been using it ever since without trouble.
