I've had a male red-eared slider for a few years, and I really just took over his care since his original owner never came back after college... I'd place him around 8 years old. He has been in a 125g tank with a few larger fish.

Recently, my son's preschool decided they had to get rid of their turtles, a female red eared slider, unkown age but I would say 4+ years based on how she looks well deveped to my amateur eye, and where as I thought it was a good idea to get rid of them because what does a preschool have a RES for anyhow? My fiance was so kind as to offer to take her in .

So now my male is chasing after her constantly, biting at her. Up until recently she has done a good job of defending herself and sustained no damage, but she now has some marks on the back of her neck where he obviously got ahold of her. Now sure anybody can say seperate the two, but I don't have room for another turtle tank, and a pond isn't that great of an idea either because I live in CT. These turtles seem to be one of those once you have them, you have them pets, so has anybody found any way to get these turtles to be happy together? Any ideas?

Nope, I am sorry. If your male is being aggressive and harming the female, your only option is separation.

I was afraid you were going to say that, but thanks for being straight up.

It doesn't sound like it's going to work. Male turtle are notorious for being very horny and will usually harass females with their breeding attempts even to the point of inflicting damage on them. If you don't have a large enough tank to house the two where they can stay out of each others way then I would separate them ASAP.
