Hi Everyone!

So... A friend's room mate bought a 30 gallon aquarium and set it up, only to find out about a month later that they are a big no no in the apartment complex that he lives in. He was hinting around that he was going to "get rid of" his fish and sell the aquarium, so I rescued them. After an intense day of figuring out how to transport about 20 small fish and one giant glass box, I am happy to report that everyone seems to have survived the move. Now, I am not exactly knowledgeable when it comes to keeping an aquarium, so I have been reading everything I can online about my new little friends. I'm starting to get the impression that he knew even less about it than I do, as he seems to have chosen his fish based solely on their appearance, and not on how compatible they are. I now have TWO aquariums, one with flashy little neons and danios, and other peaceful fish who where getting picked on in the original tank, and the other with some larger, more aggressive-seeming fish. There are four in particular that seem to rove around in a little gang, and I swear I think they play with each other and maybe even give each other affectionate rubs! Is that even possible? Anyway, they are now honestly my favorites, and I love their little fishy personalities, even if they can be bullies sometimes. I have been unable to ID them however. They are shaped like parrot cichlids, but they are a silvery gray with black stripes. I've read that blood parrots can be a totally different color when they are juveniles, but I am not certain that's what these are. I was hoping someone here could help me out and tell me what kind of fish I have. I have every intention of giving my new buddies a good home and as long a life as I can, so any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated. Here are links to a couple of pictures I managed to take of my mystery fishies.
