I was wondering how much an angelfish would contribute to a bioload into a 30 gallon. Im hoping to upgrade soon. Basically, I just wanna know, in terms of maybe percentage how much the angelfish will cover.

I was thinking about this as a 30G, never dealt with a 30 so don't get mad if it sound stocked
1 Angelfish (any good looking angel ideas out there?)
2 Peacock Gudgeon
2 Apistos/Ram (I'm thinking Apisto Cacautoides, Ninjessi, Borellies or German Blue Rams)
2 Killies *still debating (Gardneri or Clown Killies)

6 Cories (Panda or Habrosus)
10 Schooling fish (Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish/Threadfin Rainbows or Cardinal Tetras)

Any inputs? Im thining I might have too much bottom dwellers. If I do, I might just switch up cories with maybe Hatchetfish or some Splash Tetras.

Seems pretty full. I'd choose between the angel and the rams/apistos personally.

If I was to choose the rams, how much room would I have?

Probably enough to squeeze in more couple more "schooling fish" depending fish but thats about it IMO.

Thanks!!

So, the stocking above sounds ok with weekly water changes and over filtering?

If you recommend any other fish to change the ones I have, please don't hesitate to suggest it!

I'm no entirely sure on the killis as I've never kept them but I dont see why there would be an issue. The stock looks good to me (minus the angels).

Thanks for the help. Im a little hesitant in getting adding an angelfish just because they get big and I tend to like having lots of small fish. So, im still thinking about it. Do you have any other idears on "angel" type fish?

I would consider the "territory" loads. I'm no expert on these fish but do you think anyone is going to feel crowded? Do gudgeons, killies, and/or rams occupy the same areas of the tank? Like I said I'm not familiar with these fish, or the tank size/footprint

Rams and gudgeons do, but if I'm not mistaken pretty much all killi species are mid to top dwellers.

Yeah, I'm aiming to get Clown Killies for upper level and hatchets so that the top part is covered. Peacock Gudgeons and Dwarf Cichlids would be the bottom. And the middle would be the Angelfish and the schooling fish I pick.

It does sound overstocked to me. in a 30, I'd say

6 Cories (Panda or Habrosus)
10 Schooling fish (Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish/Threadfin Rainbows or Cardinal Tetras)

And ONE of those other selections would do it. You might be able to squeeze in the Killi's cause their a top level fish if you DON'T get an angel, because those other selections are lower level and cave dwellers .

If you really want the angel in addition to that many rainbows and corys, plan on closer to a 36 gallon aquarium at least.

Thanks man!
I think I'll go with
6 Hatchets for the upper part
10 Dwarf Neon Rainbows
4 Peacock Gudgeons
and maybe a pair of rams or something. But then I think Im understocked lol

Both pandas and hasbrosus stay small (2" or less) so I dont think it would be over stocked with 5-6 if you take out a pair of gudgeons and maybe a couple rainbows.

6 hatchets (a smaller species)
8 praecox
6 corys
2 peacock gudgeons

Depends on what you want I guess.

By the way, this is for a 30g. Im wondering, but it seems like I can put more fish in though. Just kinda confused.

If the praecox didn't have such deep bodies and were more torpedo shaped, I wouldn't hesitate to add 10 or 12.

What about Threadfins or Celebes Rainbows or Cardinal Tetras? I like me lots of fish so I'm trying to make the best out of it.

Thread fins would work as would cardinal tetras...celebes prefer brackish water/water high in TDS so not sure if that is an option.

Thanks. How much room would I have if I choose 10 Threadfins/Cardinals? Im not really good with stocking a 30G since I've never had one. LOL.
