Please help me understand what is going on.
Here is my set up. 20 gal high tank with a Penguin 125 HOB filter set up about 10-12 week ago. . I cycled it with 4 Zebra Danios. It took about 5-6 weeks to cycle. No problem. Then I introduced 2 Dwarf Gouramis with no problems, no ammonia spike or anything. They seemed to do fine. A week later I was at the LFS to look for an algae eater of some sort, but the were out. I subcomed to temptation and bought 5 rummy nose tetras. ( I know, not the best choice for a newbie, but they schooled so nicely) anyway they did fine for 5-6 days got over their inital shyness and were eating well.
Then it happened...one tetra started to hide and not come out to eat...then another, and I noticed the first dots on the shy ones. I went to my LFS for advice and came home with "Quick Cure". I removed the charcoal laced filter uped the temp. to 82 and dosed at half strength (as per instructions for tetras) for two days. Then I found one dead tetra and the other tetras started to go downhill. One more half dose/day another dead tetra, other tetras looking bad! I did a 25% water change and dosed again. All tetras promptly died. Now things are spiraling out of control. The Danios have ich bad. One Gourami appears to have ich and the other looks listless. I have dosed the tank at full strength for 4 days with no signs of improvment.Things seem to be getting worse. I kind of expect one of the Gouramis to be dead everytime I enter the room. Does anyone have any ideas why the Quick cure doesn't seem to be helping or any advice.
Thanks in advance
