I have a 29 gallon tank with 11 Cardinal tetras and I was wondering what else could I get to go with them?

I'm not sure what you want to get.. But we just got 24 Cardinal Tetras and one of our eight Discus ate about 12 of them so far... :(

Something with a lot of color. Other species of tetras would be good also.
rummy nose! serpea tetras! oscars! black veil tetras! rainbows!
How about some harlequin rasboras? They are another nice looking little schooling fish. I also really like having oto's to take care of algae.

Would Tiger barbs be a good selection, or would they nip at the fins of my Cardinal tetras?

How about a male betta?
A few female bettas (instead of the male) would look nice too.

Can you recommend some very colorful rainbow fish

I've had a pack of Tiger barbs in with my cardinals for 6 months now with no trouble... they liven up the tank quite a bit, but seem to chew on each other occasionally.
If you want another tetra with a little more life than the cardinals you might try black neons. I just got a few of those and they are a lot more fun (but not more colorful). Rainbowfish were suggested and I would 2nd that... I really like my pair (bosemani)
This is what I have at the moment (everyone gets along):
8 cardinals
5 tiger barbs
2 rainbowfish
5 black neons

If you want bright color and energy, swords would work well. Most of the rainbows round here are rather dull in color (being mostly of the silver/hint of blue varieties)

are very nice looking - they have a very shiny silver - but their bodies reflect a rainbow color of blue green red colors when they swim especially when your hood light hits their bodies - it's similar to when you are spraying water from a hose in t he sunlight and you get that raibow coloration in the mist
i have these they are very interesting to watch especially when they feed - they make a bee line for the top of the water grab their food make a little splash and head back down to do it all over again - lol - also boseman's rainbows or australian rainbows are nice looking

I recommend serpae tetras, very good and colorful. Also, rummynoses, if you can get them to live, are great.
