So my tumbled snail, Peaches, must have recovered from her ordeal because she laid a nice clutch on the inside of the aquarium lid. Excited as I am:grinno: I am wondering whether to let the eggs hatch or not.

The parents are living in a 29 gallon planted tank, with only a kissing gourami (who is only in there till I can find the space for her 55gallon). How many snails usually come out of a clutch? How many snails can live in a in that enviornment with weekly water changes? Is it common to find a LFS that will take any extras?

Any other advice is always welcome!

If you allow it to hatch, you need to be prepared for up to 200 Bridgesii snails. Some LFS take them and some don't. You will need to contact them before you decide to hatch them. An adult bridgesii needs about 2.5 gallons of water each. While the young don't need that much because of lower bioload, depending on how warm your water is they can grow fast and cause water issues. PLEASE! make sure you have plans for all of the off spring before you allow it to hatch. If you decide to do away with the clutch, freeze it before putting it in the trash to make sure the clutch is not viable. There is the chance if you don't that they will make their way into the wild.

Totally agree with everything said :)

You can always use a credit card or razorblade and remove however much you don't want to keep and freeze it while leaving the rest where it is.

that or if you are willing to ship you could "presell" them on here. you could make an ad in the classifieds section and people can reserve how many they want and to be on the safe side you could offer like 150 and just say first come first serve and if more are born you could offer them up for sale then or you could give the people that reserved theirs an extra 1 or 2 for free and then any that are left over you could give to your LFS if they are willing to take them
