I thought some people on this board might be interested in the upcoming MAKC Koi and Goldfish show that is being held in Westminster, MD on October 2 - 4th. The show is free to attend. There are free lectures as well.

Well, I went to my first fish show today and WOW. I learned a whole lot and saw some beautiful fish. It's one thing to see them in photos and a whole 'nother to see them in person.

I'll post pics as soon as I get them uploaded. I took TONS of photos!

This one was really pretty. Sorry the pic is not very sharp. I couldn't use a flash and capture his true color. This shows the color accurately but I lost clarity.

The big one that is positioned most straight north/south - with the spot on it's head - was priced at $2800

I talked to the owner of this fish. She's 4 years old and he called her a "longfin". I heard a few others call it a "butterfly". She's about 16 inches and will grow another 3-4 he thought. He said genetically, she's not programed to get huge like the regular koi. I could not get a picture that really captured her beauty and I tried for a long time.
