i would like to get some pearl guineas, and i might be getting some keets from a friend of mine. what do i need to know and what do i need to raise them? will i need some sort of heat lamp or accomodation for them during the winter?
I don't think you need heat for adult GF in the winter. You live in Texas so I'm sure they'll do fine as long as you have some shelter for them to get out of inclement weather.
Give them a place to roost high off the ground in the evening. Coyotes love snacking on them. When you first get them keep them in a pen for about a month until they recognize it as their home. After that release them and they will patrol your property looking for bugs. They make good "watchdogs" making a ruckus when something strange appears. They are great roasted
