I'm new to the fish aquarium thing but my son loves them and since he's young I figure this would be our 1st father son project. I'm needing something easy to maintain bc I work 10 hrs at my "real job" and atleast 5 hrs at my "hobby job". I plan on doing more research to find out more info but greatly appreciate all helps. Thanks

Welcome to AC! A simple 5 gal betta tank would probably be the easiest...
 
Thanks for the help and honestly with where it's going in the house I was thinking a bigger atleast 20 gallon tank otherwise it won't look right in the room. I've got a 55 gallon tank that used to be my buddies salt water tank at my disposal. But it has alot of I think coral on the glass that you can only get off with a razor blade.
 
Welcome to AC! Which ever you choose 5 gal. 20 gal. 55gal. the investment of time in your new set up is entirely up to you. the bigger the aquarium the larger the water changes and maintenance load. Larger filter capacity, large media consumption. A larger gravel vacuum area and the right size heater and lighting. The more 02 conditioner if your going to use one(highly recommended for adding whatever amount of new water) (which 50% per 7-10 days is recommended).So as you can see the size of your aquarium does make a difference.;)
 
Heck if you can get a free 50gal, go with that.

You dont have to stuff it with fish, a lightly stocked tank is an eay care tank.

A bit of work with the razor blade, de-tune the marine lights with some more mellow freshwater lamps and put new media in the filter and you are good to go with a freshwater tank.

A larger tank is an many ways easier to care for then a small one. Sure you have to change more water, but thats about it. Just get bigger gravel vac and bucket, or a python water changer.
