Yeah i need to know what is the average life of a planted tank if its well cared actually i have seen many tanks after 5 or 6 years, glass of tanks look very much dirty and yellow, people use blades to remove algae so glass have scratches inside.
so what is the perfect way to clean aquarium glass from inside so it looks crustal clear many years and who algae well controlled...

i have heard much talk of substrates not lasting over 2 years. regardless how long it takes them to run out of ferts that's why there's root tabs.

as for scratches well your first concern is learning to keep algae at bay.

if you're concerned that the tools may be inappropriate use plastic scrapers. there's also mag floats, they should be in every arsenal as far as i'm concerned.

and... what jpappy said ^^^

Plastic scrapers work great. Buy the ones for drywalling. Cheap at home depot

the mag floats are excellent at keeping your glass crystal clear

dont get a mag scraper near the bottom if you have sand thats asking for scratches.. as for the lifetime, if the tanks properly maintained it will outlive you
