I am not sure if it's the true name for this guy. My question is....what would eat gorgonians? I have had it in the tank for about two months. Just recently started noticing a section that has gone down to the "bare bones". I also have a purple whip gorgonian that since last night has a small section eaten out. This guy has been in the tank for a good 4 months or more. Could there be a HH coming out at night feasting? Are crabs known for eating gorgonians?
I have had a few disappearing acts in my tank over the last couple of weeks. A scooter blennie, 2 chromis, a basket star....and now this.
The scooter was in my twenty in the beginning. I figured there wasn't enough pods to sustain him so I placed it in the 90. There is a little over 200 lbs of LR. It was having a blast in there. Then poof! Two days later.....gone. The basket star had been in the tank for over four months. It was on the gorgonian so it was very easy to hand feed. I was so proud it had doubled in size and learned to open up during the day for me to feed it. Poof!....gone. My curly cue anemones had all of their tentacles eaten off. (sexy shrimp?) I transfered the large one into the twenty to see how well it would come back. It is as big as ever. Someone in there needs to go. Could it be the coral banded shrimp I have? Thanks!
