Recently I was in the market to purchase 3 trios of Duplicareous cories. I was informed, by a VERY upstanding and well respected person in the hobby, to a breeder in Pa. I contacted the person and was thrilled to learn that he did in fact have the cories that I was seeking, so I ordered, paying $9.00 per fish. These fish were to be sent on 9-14, since I was planning on being on vacation, they were finally mailed on 9-24 after several emails to the seller. When he did bother to email me back he informed me that he did not actually have the cories and had to order them and only recieved 8 of the 9, first thing that made me think this was not going to be good. I recieved them today, DEAD. The bags he used looked as though they were heavy duty trash bags, not shipping bags by any means, they had leaked, and to top it all off he had thrown loose carbon into the bags, for whatever reason. When the mail lady gave them to me she actually asked what was the smell coming from the box, I did not even bring them into my home, the stench was that bad. I have emailed him and now I will see where it goes. I only wish that we were allowed to name names. If anyone is looking to purchase cories PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE pm me for the name so that you are not taken by this same person.

ouch...how can people be so careless?

oh wow! I hope you took pics of the dead fish in the bags for proof in trying to get your money back.... Absolutely terrible.

thats terrible. hope you get your money back

He has returned my money for the dead fish, however I will not ever do business with him again. I am just amazed at how they were shipped, I mean the water was BLACK from the loose carbon that had been tossed into the bags. Any ideas as to why this would have been done?

Chances are he mistakenly thought it would absorb waste and keep the water fresher for them. At least that is the only thing I can come up with.

Sorry it was a fiasco.
