Not sure why you'd put salt in a tank containing South/Central American cichlids.
Any chance of a photo?

Thats concerning. Blood parrots are the hybrid offspring of CA/SA cichlids, so reef salt is completely unnecessary.
Could you post the exact params please?

If water parameter is acceptable, it may be the reef salt.
I dont see a reason why anyone would use reef salt (high amt of dissolved solid) on F/w fish. If any salt to be used on f/w fish, try using any non iodized salt (simple NaCl) or Aq salt.
Try doing frequent (maybe daily to dilute the concentration) but small (10-20% depending on frequency)) pwc w/o any salt for a while.
Hope all goes well!

Or indeed iodized salt. The iodide contained is at micronutrient rather than toxic levels. It's another old aquarium myth that should be laid to rest.

In addition to the myth that fish need any extra "salt"
Parrot King, could you please post a photo of the affected areas? They are helpful especially when clear and makes it easier for us to recommend the appropriate steps. Stating your water parameters, temperature, foods provided and tank maintenance will also help.

No argument there. More concerned with unknown possible reaction(s)which may take place b/n free iodide ion/iodine with whatever additives (one too many chemicals on the market) available. Why take unnecessary risk when one dont have to.

Not sure there's a risk to take. You could use that argument against adding anything - what about possible reactions between sodium thiosulphate and various chemicals in the water? Better not take the risk with those dechlorinators.
If there was a specific reaction we should be concerned with then it would be worth investigating. Fact is that despite the "non iodized" mantra being repeated all over the web, I've yet to see anyone post any evidence of harm arising. I think a lot more harm has been done over the years by ich and nitrite through people waiting until they could get hold of non-iodized salt.

One of the reasons why I dont use any dechlorinator/unnecessary additives (such as liquid vitamin added to tank water) at all be it f/w, s/w.
Unfortunately, we will never know the complications/interreactions b/n all additives which may cause problems to fish.
As far as salt goes, dont understand when you say waiting for salt. All you need is simple non-iodized table salt which is avail at any supermarkets/groceries at very affordable price.. NaCl is NaCl, natural or synthetic.

I am sure most people has non iodized TABLE SALT at all times. Unfortunately cant remember the amt , either 1 level table or 1 heaping tablespoon/5g. One can check with any Aq salt sold at lfs for right amt for specific treatment. Hope this helped.
