My fish order canmee in yesterday. Most of the fish were in excellent shape One ange lfish I thought was DOA actually was moving it's fins so I seperated it out and have a bubble wand providing aeration to it. I've done a couple water changes and it made it through the night. It's gills are really red, but hte little guy has spunk. What more should I be doing for it ? Is there really a chance that it will pull throughThe other angel has really red gills too but is able to swim upright and avoid the intake tubes.

Just keep doing what your doing. Lots of water changes and aeration.

Take pictures and contact the seller describing the condition of the fish.

How big are the Angels, did you call the seller to see if they had a problem.

Sounds like possible ammonia poisoning. Best bet is to keep up the water changes.

Agree with ammonia, but did you possibly order a few blushing angels? I know they have opaque gill plates so the gills show through.

I thight the fish was dead, and contacted the vendor immediately, I have already been given credit I'll keep up the water changes and keep you posted.
Is this process too painful for the fish? when would I know if I should euthanize?

I wouldn't be thinking euthanization at this point.

Fish can recover from ammonia damage from what I have heard. One thing that might ease the process is to make sure there is enough dissolved O2 so no extra stress is put on the fish when it comes to the gills. The less stress, the better.

definately not a blushing angel then? i have a couple of blushers and they look like their gills are really red, i worried at first then noticed they are just blushing angels. hope you little guy pulls through.

i wouldn't euthanize either. i'm not one to euthanize unless there are no alternatives. it is probably not the most comfortable right now but if it's still alive then it still has a chance to recover and live a long healthy life. i hope it starts to show some improvement soon.

I don't know if it is a blushing angel, it was supposed to be a smokey leopard veil angelbut it is mostly off white, and yes even the healthy one has red gills. The little guy is quite a fighter and I just checked and he is swimming upright, just of the lloor of his inclosure. I actually think he's gonna pull through. I appreciate the support. I've never had to do this before.

I did notice that his tail fin and dorsal fin is looking a little ragged. Does he need something like stress coat to help heal his fins?

IMO, you could try a little predissolved aquarium salt, around a half teaspoon a gallon.
