she was my pride and joy of all my platys, a beautiful yellow with black bars in her tail, gorgeous, and by far the biggest at around 2.5-3". she was fine and healthy, eating well and had dropped fry 2 days ago. yesterday i noticed she was hanging around behind a filter intake and wasnt interested in any food, even the frozen bloodworm and mysis shrimp which they all usually go nuts for. i took her out and put her into the quarantine tank, she was quite easy to catch, also not a good sign. anyway, i went to check on her last night before bed, to find her floating upside down dead on the gravel. she looked in perfect health apart from a very very small red patch just up her side a little bit from her vent. maybe 2mm across from her vent, and the patch itself was maybe 1mm-2mm and was a light red colour.
any ideas?
should i be worried for the rest of my tank?
could it have been something to do with her dropping fry? she did get really huge every time she dropped, and she was bigger than usual this time but she slimmed down as usual after having them.
it happened so quickly, i am now sitting and watching at every feed to make sure they are all eating and looking good. no other sicks in the tank, and everyone else is eating well.
