I recently bought a used 20 gallon tall, which came with a Regent Aqua-tech 20-40 filter. I have a penguin 170b, already, and had heard the parts were interchangeable, so, I tried it, and all the parts fit. The problem is:I ordered a 170b bio-wheel for it, but can't find the box cover, anywhere. Petsolutions, Big Al's online is out, and they carry other penguin parts. I'm totally frustrated. I need two of them. One for the 170b, and one for the 20-40. Incidentally, the bio-wheel fits, the cover fits, the uptake tube fits, the rite size C filter pads fit, and so does the impeller, I checked. They're made, supposedly, by marineland, in the same factory, and the filter pads are supposed to be cheaper at Wal-Mart. I ordered the covers from strictlypetsupplies.com, and a couple other places, and I recieved e-mails that the parts were unavailable at this time. Anyone have any idea where I can find these little suckers? Thanks!:wall:

I had the same situation and converted my aqua tech 40-60 a year ago and have been running it without a filter cover since. doesn't bother me that I can see the bio-wheels turning.

Of course I forgot to mention that I grow plants out of the void behind the bios wheels so I had to remove my cover.

Thanks for the info CWO4Runner. I know the stuff fits bigger models, now. As for calling Marineland, I called WRRAquatics(a subdivision of Marineland?), but called too late. The website says 7:30AM to 5:30PM PST, so, I called at 4:30, thinking I had plenty of time, but the recording goes throught this long set of commonly asked questions, and then says they're open from 7:30AM to 5:30PM EST. I didn't get a chance to call, on Friday, and they're closed Saturdays. I guess I'll try again on Monday. The list of parts on that website had prices next to them, but the part I need says N/A under price. What does that mean? Should I not look under that website address or is it a Division of Marineland? Thanks, again!

:p:By the way, CWO4Runner, Petsolutions very often gets parts for a while, and then they don't have any in stock for a week or two. I was able to order parts for the Marineland 330 earlier this year(bio-wheels, brackets, bearings, media containers, impellers),and they had it all in February or March(I think?). If you can't find it there, try Bigal'sonline. They frequently have parts Petsolutions doesn't. I bought the brother of my first 75 gallon cichlid tank from a neighbor who gave me the first one for free(I know, totally cool!), and most of the parts for the included filters were missing. Bigal'sonline has a sister store in Canada, so, unless you're Canadian, and the site doesn't show dollars US, then google it to get the right site. I'm back into hobby after a few years, myself, and I can tell you from experience RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH!!! You'll thank yourself for it. Of course, the one thing you need to know you won't find until right after you need it. :dive2:Thanks, again!

:irked: I tried the Marineland website, and it says to click on the number to order the specific part. I did that, and it didn't turn into the little the grabby hand, so, I couldn't choose the lid. I'll try calling tomorrow, but if it's a no go, where else can I try?
Thanks.

Well, I called Marineland, today(Wed.), and the part is discontinued, so, I'm still looking.:( Any ideas, anyone? Websites that carry it, stores that could send it to me, alternatives? I know, this is a lot of work for such a small, inconsequential, inexpensive item, but the lids helps keep moisture in, and makes the tank look better, so, I'd like to have them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, in advance!

What part specifically are you looking for? Can you post the schematic and part number or picture. Maybe you can DIY the part like I did the bracket with aluminum tape, still working almost a year.

uhm.. can't you cut an opening for the aquatech cover around the biowheel?

I could modify the a new aquatech part or diy another part, but I'd really like the bio-wheel cover, since it helps to reduce spray, and loss of moisture. The part for it is still on the marineland website, but you can't select it or order it. I've looked everywhere for this stupid thing, but I guess I'll have to live without. Thanks, though.

you could always check ebay and look for a used filters and use them as spare parts

The whole reason I didn't just buy a new filter was that this one came with the 20H I bought, and I'm low on space for old filters, tanks, lights, etc. Thanks for the idea, though. If I get some more space or I decide I'm just sick of the cover-less filter I'll check ebay again. Thanks again!:tropicalfish:

I've been looking everywhere for these stupid things! Three bucks is a small price to pay. How do I pay you? I have Paypal, but don't know how to go about using it for this. If anyone else has one, I would want that, also. In all, I need two, so, this one, and one more will do me. Thank you, so much. This is the lid with the bio-wheel cover, right? Thanks, again!
