I got a 25 ft python for christmas and am wondering about water pressure. I know you have to have the water running in the sink and the water pressure varies with the intensity of the water coming out of the faucet. I just wanted to make sure the faucet is supposed to be on when extracting water because it seems like a big waste to me, I have to have the faucet on high if I want adequate pressure to allow me to suck all the junk out of the aquarium.
Thanks
Yea, thats the only way to get max vacuum for doing the gravel. But once your done with the gravel vac, you can turn off the water. Mine still continues to siphon water very slowly. It does seem to be a waste of water, but on a big tank it sure beats a bucket. It would be nice to have one with a pump.
Python says that the proportions are 7:1, one gallon from the tap for every 7 pulled from the tank. But I suspect that is for exactly even height above the floor for both tank and faucet. If the tank is higher, it should improve efficiency; if lower, so would be the efficiency I suspect. (I did ask about that, but never got a response).
I still think it is the best single tank accessory, especially for folks with multiple tanks.

Thanks for the quick replies! I don't think I can go back to buckets with my 125, but I'll continue using them on my smaller tanks.

I wonder if anyone has tried to do this as a DYI. I would be really interested in trying that. It could be worth the time for me to look into.

i would think some of the pumps that go with the lawn ponds and just move water would have similar diamater connections as the python tube.

The pumps are usually adjustable so you could control the amount of suction, but I think the prices on some of the pumps was a little expensive but its been a while since I looked.

Thanks!!!
I think I can make one for a fraction of the cost. I have extra PVC and 2 powerheads just sitting around. I just have to pickup a coupling for the hose. I think I will give me something to do this weekend.
