... So- for the longest time I've wanted an invert tank- and have been planning to get one end of this year...

... I've also wanted a Paludarium... Can't justify the cost of getting both...

Until the obvious thought crossed my mind. Why not an invert Paludarium? I want something on the land part- but I'm not sure what...

Any suggestions? The inhabitant of the land part obviously doesn't have to be an invert- but it would be nice if it was something small and easy to care for... something that would get in the water from time to time- but not be a nuisance to my inverts.

Perhaps a newbie newt of some kind?

Also, what kind of lighting is needed... In the water would be simple- low light plants- just java moss/fern... Probably have some Hydrocotyle growing emersed (I've got a bunch growing this way in a pot outside and I like how it works) - don't know what I'll have on land yet... I've got a lot of reasearch as to what works best for that... I'd like a marshy land area.

I'm really at a real beginning point now- lots of research to do still- and probably won't start a build for months yet.

Thank you- I shall do.
I like fire-belly newts and I know they're fairly available and easy to keep- are they safe with inverts though? I'll have to investigate see what they eat...

Fire belly newts will take live insects including crickets, wax worms, and bloodworms. Make sure the prey is small enough for the newt to eat it. Some will eat fish food such as shrimp pellets, brine shrimp, or turtle floating food sticks.

FBN can and will eat small inverts like fw shrimp.
