Well I broke the 55, and now I have a 120...So here goes with the design for it. Right now all i have done is the skin of the stand and canopy, and i have begun the detail for the canopy. This will get more complex as I go along so stay tuned.
Floor to ceiling 75 inches wide. It will be trimmed in and painted to match the walls, or close to them. Tank is 72" long, 24" high, and 18" wide.

Canopy will have a removable light tray, that will house two 400w 20k halides, and two T5HO actinics to start with. If this is too much blue, I will add more T5s later to tone it down. It will also have a bathroom vent fan installed to vent the hot air outside the house. The light tray can be installed at various heights from the surface for new bulbs, or a light change, coral bleaching, or heat issues. The front has been removed for clarity, and when installed will be on a piano hinge to the ceiling so it can swing up and out of the way. It will be supported by struts with locks.

Here is the 55 gallon sump/fuge Im going to build. The skimmer is not to scale, but everythign else is.

More detail for the stand.

Lemme know what you think. I am going to keep modeling this thing till its finished. Then Im going to build it so stay tuned.

Looks like a very good plan to me. I would ditch the parabolic reflector idea for the halides, though (I realize that may have just been a pictorial concept, not your actual choice for a reflector). There are much more efficient choices out there.

Since Im not limited by space, I would really like to have Lumenarcs...even if I have to build them. I have and know my way around a rivit gun quite well. Probably what im going to do in the end. Thanks for looking.

What do you think about the stand? Over or under built, or do you think itll be fine?

Somewhat overbuilt, but it will work out very well. I'd rather have a nice, sturdy stand in the end, anyway. Stick with the idea.

Im revising the build on the stand and canopy. Im trying to get an acurate blueprint so I can estimate building materials. Im having trouble with the follow me tool in sketchup. Trouble is...I dont know how to use it...lol Update later.

You've got me there--you don't want to ask me how program tools work. I'll melt your computer.

Looks like this will be a great build. Awesome sketches btw.

How'd you make those diagrams?
Btw, tank design looks great!

Thanks for the props guys. The program is by Google its called Sketchup. You build things in 3d, just like you see here. Ive been using it for about a year, but it is not hard at all to use, and you can build things to scale to make sure stuff will fit where it needs to go.

Gonna work on it more later. Right now...Eggplant Parmasean woot.
