Hi, pardon me if this is posted in the wrong section, I wasn't sure where to put it.
I am looking for the CHEAPEST aquariums...whether online or in-store. The only exception is I do not shop at Wal-Mart so that is out. I don't want a used aquarium either.
Thanks for your suggestions!

Petco has cheap tanks when they are on sale. They have the dollar a gallon sale every so often. ANother one should be coming up soon for the holidays.
Petsmart also has good deals. The one by does anyways. I got a Oceanic 40 Gallon hex for $89 when it was originally $175.
They also have 55 gallon,20 gallon start up kits for cheap Under $200 for the 55 setup. It comes with everything you need mines gravel, and i believe a heater.

If you can settle for used tanks, there's always a deal on craigslist.

Not sure why you would not want a used tank. I got my tank used and it was like new when I got it. Paid a whopping $325 for a 72 gallon bow with stand and canopy and light. Again, it couldnt have looked any better had I bought it new!

^^ I just bought two tanks from petco this week. $69.99 for a 20 gallon starter kit and $49.99 for the 10 gallon starter kit. It really is a good deal considering all I had to get for both was decorations (plants & gravel) then a heater. These are my two tanks:

Craigslist is amazing I just paid $150 for a 120gal with stand and another $125 for a 90gal Cube, drilled for a saltwater setup.
But if you want new and since you live in TN, check out glasscages.com, they make tanks custom or standard sizes at a good price too.
Edit: Just realized they are closer to Nashville than Memphis, looks like an 180mile drive each way.

I agree with Leighlou. I purchased the 20 gallon tall deluxe aquarium kit for $69.99 at Petco. It's a really good deal.
If you happen to be new to fish keeping please ask us for advice when stocking your new tank. The expertise of the people in this forum will help you tremendously. In hindsight, I way overstocked my first two tanks. I could have avoided this if I knew about the AC back then. (When I moved, I had to condense my two tanks into a ten gallon. I had a pleco, three german rams, five clown loaches and three pearl scale goldfish in a half full 10 gallon that I never changed the water in. I know, I should be shot! Funny enough, I had a huge gob of hornwort in there and I think it ate up all the nitrate and saved the fish. Miraculously I didn't lose any fish even in those squalid conditions and I still have the pleco and clown loaches!)

All of my 6 tanks are from craigslist. I think the most I paid was 75 for my 20 long with the stand, filter, light and everything!! You really can't beat it. I paid 55 bucks for a complete 55 gallon set-up!!

Like posted before petco has that dollar a gallon sale here and there which is good but I never seem to know when it is which sucks!
But like stated as well used tanks aren't bad I got a 75 gallon tank with filters for $50 bucks and the tank was flawless! Only thing with used tanks is you gotta clean them which tanks up max 30mins.

hey JM, I had bought a used 72gal bow w/ all wood stand, dual glass canopies, 2-AC110's, 1-fluval 204 (which he threw in as an afterthought), 2-300w visitherm deluxe, 25lbs gravel, thermometer, a net, 1 decoration, 5 baby angels, 1 pleco all for $250! all in great but used condition, best buy for aquarium related stuff I've made on CL.
but if you can't get good CL listings in Tenn. buying from LFS is best since shipping would be not advisable. Petco/Petsmart do run decent sales (become a member for free) I bought my 20gal set up for $55 on sale.
btw - for other fish supplies/food try www.kensfish.com one of your better priced suppliers on the net with very modest shipping costs!
good luck!

Hi, Thanks for all your replies!
I will take a gander at CL and see what is available. I'm hesitant to buy a used tank because I've been ripped off before and I don't want to buy a tank with a leak or something like that. But I suppose I could get them to test it in front of me or something.
We don't have Petsmart (that I know of - will look into it) but we do have Petco which is where I've always bought my tanks. I have noticed the prices range dramatically so I will look into this $1/gallon sale - sounds perfect.
Thanks Bagel for your suggestions, I've kept fish off and on for the last 20 years - no expert but not exactly a newbie either. Right now I am basically looking for an inexpensive setup to house our fry until they are big enough to sell/trade or a good deal on a very large tank and keep everyone together.

Petco's $1 a gallon is usually at the end of August so a little late for that.

I agree, I remember it being an end of summer deal only. But I may be wrong.
I've gotten 2 tanks so far on CL and the best thing is to always go and inspect the tank before buying.

I think it's OK to buy a use tank. After all, it's only water in it and it won't harm your fish. Your going to wash it anyway. yes, craigslist is a good place to buy.

IMO even if theres a leak in a tank, you can mention it to owner, owner must drop price... well not must, but most will. then you can reseal it yourself....

many have made some great deals on CL! I have seen some posters & am so envious. Mine was ok, I am happy. they had water in it with the donated angels so I was comfortable on my purchase.
