I just aquired a beautiful piece of Echinophyllia. I don't recall seeing brown on it at the store, but I definitely have some on it now. Is this simply it's way of acclimating? Or is there something I need to do to help it out before it dies on me? Nothing seems to be bothering it.
My water parameters are all golden. I have 4 VHO bulbs (1 actinic, 1 10k, 2 22K blues)
Here's a pic.

Looks ok. Some color change is normal as it adjusts to new lighting and chemical conditions. Watch out for any spots that seem to liquify as that would be necrotic tissue.

Thanks Snappy, I'll keep an eye on it for sure.
Cheers
Wild guess... maybe too much light? I have seen quite a few of those that hate being in direct light and grow like crazy and look great when put at the bottom of the tank under a ledge so it is shaded.

Looks like Mycedium to me. If that is the case, variable coloration like that is the norm.

Unfortunately, I only have one place fro this coral. I had read that they can take very high lighting or low, in other words, they are adaptable.
It would be difficult to find a shaded place in my 46 gal tank:nilly:
