How long does it take for an angel fish tail to grow back? How long do I keep it in the hospital tank? I think it was ammonia burn due to shipping stress.

Depends, you should probably start to see growth after a few days of clean water (daily water changes). I am not sure how long to grow the tail back entirely though, but you probably don't need to keep it in the hospital tank the entire time. Just keep it in there until you know it is healthy and some of the tail grows back (this is assuming there is nothing in your main tank that would nip at the tail).

that , in part, has to do with the fish and health.
keep fresh water( daily changes) if it's eating feed well..remove uneaten food.

daily vacs to pick up uneaten food I have a filter from the main tank on the hospital tank. I'll keep watching and waiting, appetite is good though, and energy is good too. this is the fish that was almost DOA on the 2nd

provided no nippers in the main tank, keep it QT'd for a normal 4 weeks and then move it
