hey,
i have some trumpet snails in my tank and some do not have the red spots and their shell is like a blueish kind of color. Why is this?
thanks

There are several different colors of MTS. Check out this thread. http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=172137&highlight=flavors+mts

It could be a color variant. I have Red Ribbon Trumpets and Quilted Melania. How many of these trumpets do you have? I would be interested in Blue trumpets. Is it a really pronounced color, or a light shading?

Could be wrong, but there have been accounts where regular MTS have such weak shells that they appear to be blue.

That's very true. I never thought of that. Mine appear pink when the shell is fairly thin.

Do you think they're blue for the same reason that Vampie said?

My regular MTS in my discus tank appear pink - they have eco-complete red for a substrate. Mine in my other tanks are normal color. I also have some that are completely different looking - they are a tannish color with their tip being a dark brown or black.

If you mush them up, they all taste the same.
