I introduced a fish to my angel tank without quarantining it first. Now ive lost 2 of 4 Angels, and the others are not doing so good. Seems like their fins are rotting, and the last one that died had white fungus spot on her. Now my last two, which are a pair are in the H tank. Breathing hard, and closed fins, that are rotting. I dont see any fungus on them, but im treating them with jungles fungus cure. Its not what i wanted, but its all i could find on a short notice. Any suggestions. Water is at 80F and ive added some salt. Thanks everyone!
Can you post pics, please. It sounds like a bacterial infection, possibly Columnaris . What are your params? Ammonia, nitrite, nitrates, ph, gh and kh if possible?
Water change schedule: how much and how often? Vacuuming frequency?
Testing equipment: strips or liquid test kit? Type of water conditioner?
I would lower the temp in the tank to 76 degrees to help slow down the growth of the bacteria. Temps of 77 and above help bacteria flourish.
I would do big, frequent water changes in the hospital to keep the water pristine. Pure clean water will help. Get Prime water conditioner to help detoxify the ammonia and nitrites that might be present in trace amounts. It removes chlorine and chloramines but also detoxifies ammonia and nitrites for about 24 hours giving you time to do the water changes.
The med you mentioned does have antibiotic in it... but if you are seeing no improvement after 72 hours I would switch to something else. There are several antibiotics that could be recommended, but if you could help with the answers to the questions above, and also post some pics that would be helpful.
Emergency treatment right now would be big water changes every day or more often if needed to keep the water in the hospital absolutely perfect.
They are looking better, but still breathing hard, and clamped fins. No more fins have rotted away. Think they are getting better? About how long should i treat them for? Thanks.
