hi i found some cool river pebbles. can i putthem in the tank? or should i boil em first to kill everything

Boil them first. Anything you collect in the wild that you want to put in the tank you should boil first because it can contain all sorts of harmful pathogens from the wild.

I put rocks from the outdoors in the tank all the time. Just make shure it's sandstone or some other hard stone. Soap stone is ocassionally found in creeks, it's a beautiful blue color but it dissolves quickly and falls apart.
I usually cook my rocks in the oven at 500 degrees for 20 minutes or boil them.

A little test is to put vinegar on the rock and see if it fizzes. If it does, don't use it.
