Hey folks,
First of all, I hope all of you have a happy and safe new year. Well, I finally got my tank setup (except a few little details) and I wanted to share some pics with you fine people. Let me know what you think, opinions are welcome.
On a side note, some of my cichilds seem to be rubbing on the sand and on the rocks. I think it may be ich, but i've never seen it. My loaches seem to have some tiny white spots but they come and go and it is almost undetectable.
Anyway, here are the pics.

looks good, what kinda sand did you use? you should put a background on it, black would look nice.

You did a nice job with the rocks. I agree with getting a black background, it will bring the colors of those fish out more.
P.S.- one of my friends just moved to Naples. I actually just saw her today, she is visiting.

Can you give a little insight as to your 10 gallon sump? I'm interested in making one myself and I like what you did. Can you give the details as to what is in that white can? Thanks!
those fish look bored out of their minds! you need some fake plants and drift wood! HOLLLA!!!

yep you have ich. use rid ich and you'll lose it in a week or so no biggie. I've had it twice and it always starts with fish itching themselves before you see any visable signs. last time i had it was due to a filter change.

ive had some ich meds turn my silicon green, so you may want to think about that since its a new tank. the last couple of times ive had any ich in my tanks, i simply turned the heat up gradually and it runs its course in a week or so.

I used playground sand from Home depot. It seems to be very heavy and doesn't cloud up the water(it comes in these semi-transparent 50lbs bags). My only recomendation is that if you do use this make sure that you run your fingers across it once in awhile to avoid compactation.

Thanks, a friend of mine helped me with the rocks. I got them at a local landscaping place north of here in Ft. Myers. I refuse to pay 1.98 a lbs for rock when I can get it for .22 cents a pound.
I've been here about three years and it's a nice quiet growing city. A litte boring at times, but Ft. Myers is 45 minutes away and Miami is only 1.5 hours away. :)

My sharks are doing great, great personality and I would never have another tank without them. The Africans never bother them at all. In my 55, they used to chase each other alot but with the 75 they have enough room to roam. In short, I love em.

Basically, I took a 5 gallon square bucket that once had powedered detergent (make sure you wash it out a million times)
and turned it into a wet/dry Bio tower.
Make a round 1'' hole on top of the lid.
Inside the bucket I have Bio-balls and some filter floss.
The filter floss sits on the top of the bucket supported by eggcrate which in turn is support by four galvanised(sp?) screws (i'm sure there are better ways to support this)
Now, under the filter floss and eggcrate, there is a space where I put my Bio Balls which is also supported by eggcrate at the very bottom of the bucket. This way, the Bio-balls are showered with clean water (I hope:))
The return is handled by a Mag 5 pump with is rated for 350 GPH @ 0' head so expect about 250-300 @ 3-4 feet of head.
It's very easy to make and it only cost me about $110(had to get an overflow skimmer and pump), instead of $300+ for a good wet/dry at the LFS. I hope this helps. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me anytime.

What type of eggcrate are you using? Is there a way you could take a picture the next time you clean it? THANKS!
