I've been keeping amano shrimp for about a month now. There is algae in the tank, not an overwhelming amount, and I feed my fish frozen brine shrimp frozen spirlina and faked fish food as well as Hikari sinking wafers for supplemonting the ottos, and cories. Is this enough variety to ensure I am covering my amano shrimp needs?

I believe so. Amanos don't usually have nutritional issues as they eat anything and everything :grinyes:.

I agree with Bubbles, sounds like they are eating good stuff!
P.S. Bubbles I wanted that avatar but for the life of me couldn't figure out how to get an animated file on here! LOL!

I had pretty good luck, (though not great) with amano shrimp. I'd buy 3 at a time and one of the 3 would always die within a week of purchase. I now have three in the tank that seem to be thriving and have been in the tank for months. As for food, they're not terribly bashful about going after what they want. When I feed some sinking pellets they come out from their hiding places, grab some food and take it back with them! I think I read here on the forum that if regular food is available to them algae will quickly fall out of favor.

thanks, I try not to over feed the fish but I have seen the amanos with bits of sinking wafers. They are still doing a terrific job on the algae
