OK, I've got way too many Quilted Melania. As long as you can cover shipping plus paypal fees ($5.55 should do it) name your own price for as many of them as you want.
Probably got 100 of them- but will only guarantee 50 because they can be a pain to locate and catch.
What are Qulited Melania- they're an Olive-coloured snail looks a lot like Malaysian Trumpet Snails. (alot of people call them MTS but they're actually a different species... grow a little bit bigger, different colour- otherwise the behave, breed, eat and can be treated the same).
Most of them are below their full size (about 3.5cm little over an inch long)- they are mainly smallish juveniles because once every three or four months I spread the wealth and look for people that want some and usually send off my largest.
Price for them shipped is whatever you feel like paying me- minimum $5.55 - I will not accept more than $5000 for them. That would be greedy!
Or- if you'd like to exchange something... plants... shrimp... some other type of snail... gold, precious stones... That can be arranged. Let me know what you have. No bladder snails, brown/leopard ramshorns, Guppy Grass, water lettuce, or duckweed though please!

Best I can do without a functioning camera at the moment is this one:

They won't have errosion on their shells like the big one above- and the colour when underwater with the aquarium lights on is a lighter colour... more attractive than the ones above.
Bodies are black but have the same basic shape as MTS or Tylos.

These are great snails and very hardy! I got some from Wycco a couple months ago and they're breeding great.

Snails or precious stones eh? I happen to have both on hand. For snails I have something that looks like a black Tylo, will have to get some pics. I've had them for a couple months now, but no baby snails have appeared (no clue why not.)

Hmmm interesting... Are they warm water tolerant and do they eat plants?

As far as I can tell they don't eat plants, though hornwort and duckweed are the only plants in their tank. As for temp, I never thought about that, but none of them have died from the warm water. I could try them in an unheated tank...

Sounds very interesting. Do you know where they came from?
My tank is usually pretty warm for many snails (high 70s to 80)- although if it is some kind of Tylo- they wouldn't appreciate anything cooler anyway. So as long as they're not a coldwater species.
Are you interested in a trade (or were you just commenting that you had them)?
I notice you've got a high marketplace feedback satisfaction- so I'd be willing to send you as many QM as you like- you can decide after you get them how many of the black snails they are worth (if they are Tylos they're probably worth a lot more than QMs)...
I don't have any black trumpet shaped snails- so regardless of what they are they'd add variety to my tank from all these olive coloured snails... ;)
What size are they?

They're Faunus ater aka black faunus snails, after doing a bit of searching they appear to be brackish critters. Probably why there haven't been any babies turning up. They're about 3" long, black shells with a white body. They eat the same way as trumpet snails, not sure how effective they are for cleaning algae since they share a tank with dozens of BN growing out.
I'd swap 3-4 for a handful of Melania snails. If they reproduce half as fast as ramshorns I'll have them coming out my ears in no time.

They reproduce faster than ramshorns. Wycco, let me know if you have any more quilted melania after your deal with toddnbecka. I might want some more. Trying to work on a tank redo here and I'm trying to figure out what I want to do.

So... I've been feeding melania snails to my assassin snails? Hmmm, all this time I thought they were MTS. Free bump for the free bit of edumacation I just got

Cool, thank you, yeah that would be fantastic. QM reproduce like crazy. I think Faunus breed like Nerites- they have larvae which need to wash out to sea in order to develop into snails.
Algae eating ability isn't a factor... I really don't have much algae in my tank- between plants, Pleco, and numerous species of inverts the algae gets eaten. They'll get plenty of fish food and snail jello to feast off though.
I'll send you a PM.

I'm sure I'll have plenty left over. They do reproduce like crazy in my tank because I'm guilty of overfeeding to make sure my nocturnals and slower moving animals get to eat.

Wycco, when you get the Faunus, let me know how they do. :) I've always wanted some. :D

Shall do... The Faunus do look interesting snails- never actually seen them in person- and there isn't much aquarist literature on them out there- they're from tropical waters so I assume they like it warm like Tylos do.
I'm interested to watch what they're like behaviourally... and I've read contrasting reports as to whether they do or do not eat plants online... so I need to keep an eye out on them.
If it's the occasional munching on stem plants like Tylos do that's OK... if they go on a rampage I'll have to set up a non-planted tank for them.

Hahaha, yeah, that's true. I've seen them on Aquabid, but they're expensive (especially if they don't breed).

Sent off a bunch of these- but I still have plenty left if anyone is interested.
Not many big ones left though- so they will be predominantly juveniles. These guys will reproduce for you at a small size though- they just produce more young at a time the bigger they are.
